The Ghana Geographers Association (GGA) was established in 1958 as the official professional organization for all people who are associated with Geography, either through formal training, teaching or practice. The Association is registered with the objectives and purposes of organizing and uniting senior members of the Universities in Ghana, students of Geography, teachers of second-cycle institutions and all practitioners who are directly or indirectly involved in Geographical studies including Geology, Geomatic/Geodetic Engineering, Surveying, Planning, Land Economy, Spatial Science, Meteology/Climatology, GIS/Remote Sensing, among others.

GGA 2023

On the theme “Ghana’s Journey Towards Achieving the SDGs: Perspectives of Geographers”, the Ghana Geographers Association organized the 2023 edition of the annual conference at the University of Cape Coast. GGA 2022

After the long break because of the world pandemic Covid-19, the Ghana Geographers Association Conference was restored. Hosted by the University of Cape Coast on the theme Covid 19: Setting the New Directions for the future of geography, members of the association were entreated to embrace the changes that had come with the pandemic.

GGA 2024

All is set for the Ghana Geographers Association Conference 2024 at the University of Ghana, Legon. From the 3rd -6th September 2024, members of the association will be hosted and treated to series of insightful plenary sessions emerging from the theme Advancing Human, Space and Technology nexus for sustainable development.

Student Initiatives

The Ghana Geographers Association organized a days’ seminar daft geography clinic. The event was organised for final year students within the Greater Accra metropolis. This event was to enlighten students on how to tackle questions on geography during their final examinations. The event took place at the Labone Senior High School.
